Whisky Gully & Black Gully
Whisky Gully
At the southern end of The Blue Mountain Walk and a short driving
distance from Tapanui. A lovely bush walk, ferns, beech trees,
bellbirds and fantails. At the beginning of the track is an
easy 15 minute loop walk suitable for all ages – the native mistletoe
flowers in abundance right on Christmas
Black Gully
Turn off SH90 near Crookston – an ideal picnic spot – huts are available
for trampers and hunters also camp sites. Children love the
historic play equipment. Black Gully is at the northern end of The
Blue Mountain Walk – there is also a loop track to the top of The Blue
Mountains. Mistletoe flowers freely at Christmas.
The photographs of the mistletoe on this page were taken at both Whisky
Gully and Black Gully by Dr Daphne Climie
