Tapanui is situated on State Highway 90, on the edge of the forest, at the base of the Blue Mountains. This attractive town (population of around 700) is surrounded by the gently rolling and intense green farmland of West Otago.

Only 1½ hours from Dunedin International Airport and 2½ hours from Queenstown International Airport, Tapanui is ideally situated for taking day trips to the southern scenic attractions including The Catlins, The South Coast, Fiordland, The Lakes District and Central Otago.
